Balance training is a way to bring to the surface multiple ideas for students to work with. Is a student favoring one foot? Are their ankles individually strong? Where does a student feel heavy or light? I use Indo Board balance boards specifically for these tasks. I like to get students disoriented in a safe environment. Balance training helps me to create the context of situational disorientation. An Indo Board puts the student immediately within their body. Students must control small muscles that are not often used in order to truly balance themselves. For any type of student, balance training seems to put them completely within their body.
